What happens if I am accused of domestic violence?
In Florida, if you’re accused of domestic violence, there certainly will be an investigation. Sometimes it will be on scene, and you may be arrested on scene. Sometimes it may be a complaint, and they may do their investigation in the office, and you’ll be called into the State Attorney to give a statement. In any situation, you should not talk to the authorities, either the police or the state. You should exercise your right to remain silent because that can not be used against you. You will not be talking your way out of a domestic violence charge.
